Why Your Family Should Book an Extended Family Session?
Having pictures of your immediate family bring joy but having pictures captured of your extended family brings exponential amounts of joy. Different generations being captured is something special because it is a moment in time that will never be the same.
Extended family sessions allow you to get frame worthy images of both your immediate family and your extended family. The biggest bonus is that you only have to show up for one photoshoot to get all of these images!
How to Set Up Your Extended Family Session
We set up these sessions similar to any family session. You can come to me with proposed dates that work for your family. This usually takes some back and forth to factor in the many different schedules. Next we pick a location. Some families come to me with a location in mind but I can offer suggestions for Fairfield County, Litchfield County, Westchester County and Putnam County. Don't stress because there are many beautiful spots in the Northeast.
How to Prep for Your Extended Family Session
Once the date, time and location are picked, you are almost ready for you shoot day. Please make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early. This is to ensure there is plenty of time to park and finish prepping family members. Make sure to run a brush through hair, if necessary. Wipe down any food excess that might be on your kids or husband, lol.
DON'T pick matching colors for everyone. It is ok if the kids match, but the overall images of the group then to get lost when everyone is matching.

DO pick colors that are favorable for the season and location.
DON'T wear something you have never tried on and don't feel comfortable in the day of your shoot.
DON'T wear shoes that are not appropriate for walking through fields. Stilettos tend to sink in field settings.
What to Expect at Your Session
You arrive and different families begin to filter in at the picked location. Some jokes are usually made at the expense of the family member that is always running late. The flow of these sessions depending if there are young kids or if some families ready before others. During these sessions, we make sure an entire group shot is captured. Along with that we take pictures of the different families and combinations your group desires. Each group shot usually has a posed photo but then I encourage the groups to have fun. Laugh, tickle, swing, move with your group to capture natural emotions.
What to Expect after your Session
I will thoughtfully edit the entire album with your many photos included. The album will then get sent to any members of the family whom I have been provided with their email address. These albums are guaranteed within 3-4 weeks. Once you download your gallery, you can print the photos and cherish them!
